Green Bears Take the Championship – Powder Puff Classic

The Green Bears win the Powder Puff Classic. The girls’ went 4-0 on the day. They defeated the Reds in the championship game. Thank you to all of our teams, fans and volunteers for an amazing day. Can’t wait for next year!

Fall Sports Wrap Up – 2009

Seawolf Family – Our fall sports’ teams have completed their seasons. Our cross country teams and our girls’ volleyball team both moved to more competitive leagues. The cross country teams competed in a league that was comprised of teams from both the Heritage and Liberty Leagues. Both teams finished in 4th place (out of 8 teams). We were far and away the smallest school in the league, but we still qualified for CIF. Timmy Vaughn, Kiani Lane and Rachel Brand all made all league. Anthony and Miranda Dominguez were the captains of the team. They are both seniors finishing their last cross country season with us. We are very thankful for all the sacrifices they have made to help found this program.

Our girls’ volleyball team lost last night in the state playoffs. They lost 22 – 25, 25 – 27, 22 – 25 to the # 2 seed in the tournament, Mission Prep. The girls had to drive 4 hours to San Luis Obispo to play the match. It ended a very successful season. They were league champs of the tough Heritage League. They also beat local rivals St Monica and Crossroads. Alex Gearin was named league MVP and Gena and Katrina Heger were named first team all – league.

Our 5 seniors (Alex, the Hegers, Kelly Ryan and Amber Ferguson) had an amazing 4 year run. Their teams had combined record of 68 – 29 and went 30 – 0 in the 3 years they were in a league. They won a CIF title, moved up a division and maintained a #1 ranking all season this season.

All 7 of these seniors have made this school better and set a standard for the next generation of Seawolf athletes. What will be missed is their commitment to their teammates and quality character.

Volleyball Earns a Bid to The California Div V State Tournament

Girls’ Volleyball earns a bid to the CIF Div V State Tournament. Pacific is one of sixteen teams to make the state tournament from the southern section. #7 Pacifica will take on #2 Mission Prep Tomorrow night at 7pm. in San Louis Obispo. This is the program’s second consecutive appearance in the state tournament. Last year the Lady Wolves finished in the top 8 in California for Div V. We send God’s grace and peace to our team and coaching staff as they travel to SLO tomorrow. Go Seawolves!

PACIFICA CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL CAPTURES THIRD STRAIGHT LEAGUE TITLE

Santa Monica, California (November 5, 2009) – With victories over neighbors St. Monica’s, Crossroads and a second place at the Brentwood Tournament Pacifica volleyball has gone from a new kid on the block to a competitive Westside program that boasts three teams, a CIF title, three straight league championships and a 30-0 record in league play.

“Our goal is to focus on doing excellent work in an environment that promotes good volleyball and stretches our players personally. Whether you are new to volleyball or an accomplished club player our program seeks to challenge all players one through thirty,” said Kevin Kelsey, athletic director. “We are very happy with the direction of the athletic program. It is great to be involved with so many strong schools on the Westside. We have learned so much from our peers.”

This year’s team returns all but one starter. Last years squad reached the regional semi-finals of the state tournament. Ranked #1 in the polls, with four senior leaders and two strong freshman the team is ready to make a run in Division V-AA of the CIF Playoffs and is seeking back to back CIF titles. “The team is working hard and will take nothing for granted in the playoffs,” said Staci Lane, assistant coach.

Girls’ volleyball plays its 100th game in School History

Girls’ volleyball plays its 100th game today. Over the past three years the team holds a record of 67 wins 28 losses and 5 ties. They are the defending CIF-SS Div 5a champions and have won three straight league titles. This week the girls’ defeated the Saint Monica Mariners 3-2.

Cross-Country makes Great Showing at League Meet

Seawolves make great showing at Liberty League XC Meet on Wednesday. Girls’ XC placed 2nd and Boys’ XC placed 4th. Rachel B. placed 6 overall. Kiani L. placed 8 overall.
